Most people look at a home and see a room with physical aspects like walls and windows. I look at a home and see a space with its meta-physical aspects like volume and light that shape how you act and feel.

Hi, my name is Ashish (ah-SHEESH). My path to founding RARA Designz wasn’t a traditional one, but every step of my career has been defined by two constants: a love for simplicity and a drive to help people solve challenges.

Educator At Heart

My approach to design is “helper-first.” Long before I started this firm, I was a graduate teaching assistant at SUNY Buffalo, helping fellow architecture students when I realized that simple instructions were most effective. Today, I use simplicity of thought to create complex designs that deliver your vision.

A Student Of Perception

My design philosophy is centered around the human experience (my masters thesis was – Meaning and Interpretation in Architecture – the invisible forces that affect our perception). I am deeply interested in how we perceive space —how sight, sound and texture affect our perception of space. I don’t just design “additions”; I design environments that acknowledge this deep rooted need of the human brain.

Ashish helped me get a permit in Fairfax County. I had constructed a 2-story shed that I thought I didn't need a permit to build, but realized I had to. Ashish was able to render drawings of the existing building, making important corrections to my design so that it would pass a county inspection. When the county required that I remove the top level, Ashish quickly amended the drawings to reflect the work I had to complete.
